Softball Recap: Three Rivers Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Three Rivers came tearing into Tuesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past La Pryor 13-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 back in March.

Alyson Gomez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Three Rivers got a massive performance out of Kylee Garcia, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Nayelli Longinos was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Three Rivers kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.

Three Rivers pushed their record up to 19-4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for La Pryor, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Three Rivers will face off against rival Charlotte at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 1.9, the Trojans 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, La Pryor is set to take on their familiar foe Falls City at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
