The Moniteau Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Punxsutawney Chucks at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Punxsutawney took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Moniteau, who comes in off a win.
On Saturday, while Moniteau put up plenty of runs, the same can't be said for Keystone. Moniteau blew past Keystone 17-0. The victory was just what Moniteau needed coming off of a 13-7 loss in their prior game.
Moniteau got a great performance from Beau Stewart as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Keagan Book was a standout: he went 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and a run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Ross, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and a stolen base.
Meanwhile, Punxsutawney unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell victim to a rough 8-2 defeat at the hands of Clarion Area. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest runs Punxsutawney has scored all season.
Punxsutawney saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddox Hetrick, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Even though they lost, Punxsutawney didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 12 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clarion Area only tossed five.
Moniteau made their fans wait, but they earned their first win of the season to make their record 1-2. As for Punxsutawney, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-1.
Both both teams just can't seem to miss. Moniteau has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Punxsutawney struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
