The Breese Central Cougars will challenge the Red Bud Musketeers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Breese Central will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Breese Central's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Odin/Patoka/Sandoval as Breese Central made off with a 15-0 victory. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Lily Lappe looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. That hit was her first of the season.

At the plate, Kate Johnson was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Piper Kujawa was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Breese Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Red Bud ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Freeburg, sneaking past 10-8. The win was just business as usual for the Musketeers, who after three games remain undefeated this season.
Olivia Geralds made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Geralds was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Julia Whelan was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Ava Wagner, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
The victory got Breese Central back to even at 2-2. As for Red Bud, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Breese Central came up short against Red Bud in their previous meeting back in April of 2017, falling 8-3. Can Breese Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
