The Northern Nash Knights suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. Their tough 57-33 loss to Roanoke Rapids might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Northern Nash has scored all season.
Northern Nash's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kingston Little, who scored seven points along with three steals, and Trey Battle who scored six points. That's the first time this season that Little grabbed two or more steals.
Roanoke Rapids got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Darren Solomon out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Shabazz, who scored 13 points along with six assists and three steals.
Northern Nash has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Roanoke Rapids, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northern Nash won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Clayton at 1:00 p.m. on January 6th. Averaging 58.8 so far this season, Clayton's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Northern Nash better be ready for a challenge. Roanoke Rapids will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bunn at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Bunn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Wednesday.
