Cary-Grove is 0-10 against Huntley since April of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Trojans will welcome the Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Cary-Grove will be strutting in after a win while Huntley will be coming in after a loss.
Cary-Grove took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They blew past Leyden 11-4. The contest marked the Trojans' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Paityn Ahlquist made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Ahlquist was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Longergan, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Megan Koski was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Cary-Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leyden only posted a batting average of .192.
Meanwhile, Huntley has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.88 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They came up short against Sycamore, falling 10-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Red Raiders have suffered since March 28, 2024.
Huntley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrina Adamik, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Huntley's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Cary-Grove, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cary-Grove hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Huntley struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cary-Grove couldn't quite get it done against Huntley when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
