The Lassen Grizzlies will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Oroville Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Lassen pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Valley.
Meanwhile, Oroville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 71-44 defeat at the hands of Orland. Oroville has struggled against Orland recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Oroville saw an underclassman step up: Kevin Taylor scored 18 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Taylor has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jantzen Demitrial, who scored 11 points.
Lassen's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-13. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Oroville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
Lassen didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Oroville in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 67-62 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Oroville's Devin Thomas, who almost dropped a double-double on 42 points and nine rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be that much easier for Lassen to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
