After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bellaire, Bridgeport was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Everything went their way against the Jefferson County Christian Royals as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Carson Sauvageot made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Connor Nelson was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was DANNY GOFF, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Bridgeport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson County Christian only posted an OBP of .259.
Bridgeport's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games.
