The Treutlen Vikings will head out to face off against the East Laurens Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. East Laurens took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Treutlen, who comes in off a win.
Treutlen lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Telfair County, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's match. The Vikings blew past the Trojans 9-1 last Friday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by eight runs or more this season.
Caden Parrish spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Peyton Miller, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Acie Dickens was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles.
Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact: Treutlen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, East Laurens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Washington County, falling 9-2. That's two games in a row now that the Falcons have lost by exactly seven runs.
East Laurens saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Conner Lawrence, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
East Laurens' defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Treutlen, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Treutlen has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like East Laurens struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Treutlen came out on top in a nail-biter against East Laurens in their previous matchup back in February, sneaking past 10-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
