Meanwhile, Liberty waltzed into their match on Thursday with 16 straight wins... but they left with 17. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 17-10 win. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Lions, who until this game were averaging 2.41 runs allowed.
The team relied heavily on Taylor Jennings, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madison Tuttle, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Liberty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Salinas' victory bumped their record up to 20-8. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 25-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Salinas hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
