The Dillon Wildcats waltzed into their matchup on Monday with four straight wins but they left with five. They walked away with a 41-32 victory over Waccamaw. This was payback for Dillon, who suffered a 50-48 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dillon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Treasure Davis, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least a third of Dillon's points. Another player making a difference was Mariah Campbell, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Dillon's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Waccamaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
Dillon will head out on the road to take on Georgetown at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dillon is facing Georgetown at the right time seeing as Georgetown is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Waccamaw, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Manning at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Waccamaw is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Manning in South Carolina (Waccamaw is ranked 122nd, while Manning is ranked 246th).
