The Mamou Demons will face off against the Breaux Bridge Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, Mamou made easy work of Ville Platte and carried off a 14-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Demons in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.
Mamou got a massive performance out of Danilynn Landreneau, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Landreneau has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Lacoste, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
Mamou was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ville Platte only posted a batting average of .222.
Meanwhile, Breaux Bridge entered their tilt with Abbeville on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Wildcats.
Zoey Simoneaux was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Simoneaux was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Gracie Hebert was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Calie Chiasson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
Mamou pushed their record up to 9-12-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Breaux Bridge, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mamou hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Breaux Bridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .529. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Mamou's way against Breaux Bridge in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, as Mamou made off with a 17-4 win. Do the Demons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
