The Inter-Lakes Lakers will head out on the road to face off against the Belmont Red Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Inter-Lakes has struggled recently with 18 losses in a row, while the Red Raiders will arrive with three straight victories.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 44-7, which was the final score in Inter-Lakes' tilt against the Golden Eagles on Friday. Inter-Lakes was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-1.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Inter-Lakes struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-5) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Meanwhile, Belmont didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Rams on Friday, but they still walked away with a 58-52 win.
Inter-Lakes' defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.9 points per game. As for Belmont, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season.
Inter-Lakes might still be hurting after the 61-39 loss they got from the Red Raiders in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Inter-Lakes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
