The Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons will face off against the Fairfax HomeSchool Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Our Lady of Good Counsel has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Two weeks ago, Our Lady of Good Counsel needed a bit of extra time to put away Paul VI. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers, sneaking past 13-12. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Grace Mackrell, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Elizabeth Stone was another key player, going 4-for-6 with three RBI and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Our Lady of Good Counsel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Fairfax HomeSchool strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Trinity Christian as they made off with an 8-1 victory. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Elizabeth Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Madelyn Shaw was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Agape Burke, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Fairfax HomeSchool's win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average this season. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Everything went Our Lady of Good Counsel's way against Fairfax HomeSchool in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Our Lady of Good Counsel made off with a 22-1 victory. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
