The Douglass Astros will head out on the road to face off against the North Springs Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglass has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 476 points over their last seven games.
Even though Northgate scored an imposing 56 points on Saturday, Douglass still came out on top. Douglass walked away with a 65-56 victory over Northgate.
Rj Winegarner was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Joshua Mickell, who scored 12 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, North Springs got the win against Horizon Christian Academy on Saturday by a conclusive 58-33. That 58-33 margin sets a new team best for North Springs this season.
It was another big night for Esmer Madesko, who scored 26 points along with three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of North Springs' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Heard, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Douglass' victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for North Springs, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-10.
Douglass was able to grind out a solid victory over North Springs in their previous matchup back in November, winning 69-57. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Madesko, who scored 22 points along with three steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Douglass still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
