Even though the Lackey Chargers scored an imposing 55 points on Wednesday, the Northern Patriots still came out on top. Northern walked away with a 65-55 win over Lackey. The win made it back-to-back wins for Northern.
Leading Northern to victory were Alec Johnson and Will Ellis. Johnson dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Ellis scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Johnson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmanuel Powell, who scored 12 points.
Lackey's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kentavious Dancy, who scored 20 points along with three steals, and Isaiah Mansaray who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Dancy scored 15 or more points.
Northern is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Lackey, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.
Northern will head out on the road to challenge Calvert at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Calvert is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for Lackey, they will be playing in front of their home fans against La Plata at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. La Plata will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 228th, while Lackey is ranked 96th).
