Basketball Recap: Jorge Estrada's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Faith Christian over Still Creek Christian

Faith Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 54-44 to the Still Creek Christian Colts. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Saints this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-34 two weeks ago.

Faith Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jorge Estrada, who posted eight points in addition to six assists and six steals. With that strong performance, Estrada is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Jayden Avila, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 17 points.

Estrada wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Faith Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Still Creek Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Logan Walton led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Walton's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Reed, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 21 rebounds.

Faith Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Still Creek Christian, they pushed their record up to 17-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Faith Christian has already played their next match (against Liberty Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Still Creek Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-25 victory against Community Christian on the 1st.
