Even though the Jordan Red Jackets scored an imposing 55 points on Saturday, the Spencer Greenwave still came out on top. Spencer skirted past Jordan 57-55. Given Spencer's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Jordan is ranked 522nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Spencer's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joe Dozier, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gary Gaither, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Spencer has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season. As for Jordan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.
Spencer will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Southwest at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Southwest is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Spencer a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Jordan will take on Rutland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
