The Bishop Snyder Cardinals will face off against the Providence School Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Snyder will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
Bishop Snyder took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Bolles, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cardinals won by a run and slipped past the Bulldogs 10-9.
Lewis Turner looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cole Dennis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Josh Murray, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, while it was Providence School who put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, it was Buchholz who put up more. The Stallions came up short against the Bobcats, falling 11-1. The Stallions' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Providence School saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landis Pickett, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.
Bishop Snyder pushed their record up to 19-5 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Providence School, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.
Bishop Snyder's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Cardinals have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Providence School, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Bishop Snyder continue to outrun the ball?
Bishop Snyder couldn't quite get it done against Providence School when the teams last played back in February as they fell 9-6. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
