Monticello had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 7-6 to make it seven. They lost 19-2 to the Gunnison Valley Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 on Tuesday.

Triston Felix was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Monticello is 6-3 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Felix was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Felix wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Keyes, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
As for Gunnison Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-7. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.
On Gunnison Valley's side, Landry Edwards spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Gunnison Valley got a massive performance out of Peyton Sanders, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI Sanders has posted since back in March. Porter Comin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Monticello has already played their next matchup, a 17-7 loss against Grand County on the 22nd. As for Gunnison Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 victory against North Sevier on the 22nd.
