Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Edwardsville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Yale Weaver, who threw for 371 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 65 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave Weaver a new career-high in passer rating (138.2). Gavin Frey did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 206 receiving yards.
Belleville East lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Josh Ware, who rushed for 140 yards and a pair of TDs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Wood, who threw for 213 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Edwardsville's record is now 2-3. As for Belleville East, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
