The Plainview Bears''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 42-35 to Westbrook Christian. The match was a 28-28 toss-up at halftime, but Plainview was outscored by Westbrook Christian in the second.
Plainview's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Owen Hope, who picked up 164 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 65 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Hope's longest reception was for an incredible 83 yards. Another player making a difference was Trey Rutledge, who threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns.
Among those leading the charge was Greyson Carroll, who rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 124 yards and a touchdown. Lamycal Mitchell was in the mix as well, providing Westbrook Christian with two touchdowns.
Plainview's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. As for Westbrook Christian, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plainview will take on Ohatchee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Westbrook Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Sylvania at 7:00 p.m. Sylvania is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
