Braddock had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Coral Park Rams on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-4 win. Considering the Bulldogs have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Emely Ramirez made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Catherine Fuerte and Emily Cancio did most of the damage at the plate: Fuerte went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple, while Cancio went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those five RBI gave Fuerte a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anais Gonzalez, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Braddock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Braddock pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10 runs. As for Coral Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
Braddock will be playing at home against Southwest at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. Coral Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
