Softball Recap: Calexico Takes a Loss

Calexico dropped their record down to 14-10 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Southwest EC Eagles by a score of 2-1. Bulldogs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Eagles since on Thursday.

As for Southwest EC, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

For Southwest EC's part, Alexis Trujillo spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits.

At the plate, Southwest EC's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emilie Marquez, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

As of now, neither Calexico nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
