Maryn Macneil made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Woodcreek let Emily Cser and Camryn Kelley run wild. Cser went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Kelley went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits Cser has posted since back in February. Nicole Fonti was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Inderkum entered their tilt with Bella Vista on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Broncos 8-2.
Natalie Aboosh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Anyssa Luttig was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Jacobus, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Inderkum was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Woodcreek's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Inderkum, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Woodcreek hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Inderkum struggles in that department as they've averaged .321. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Woodcreek beat Inderkum 7-3 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Timberwolves repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
