Union Colony Prep has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Nederland Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Union Colony Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Monday.
Last Monday, Union Colony Prep beat Front Range Christian 58-51.
Union Colony Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tanner Sarchet led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven steals. Sarchet hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Josiah Rodriguez, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Nederland was able to grind out a solid victory over Two Roads Charter School on Monday, taking the game 32-22. The win was just what Nederland needed coming off of a 69-21 loss in their prior matchup.
Gavin Dillon was his usual excellent self, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds. Rick Fortunato was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Union Colony Prep's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-8. As for Nederland, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Union Colony Prep have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 20.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Nederland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Union Colony Prep against Nederland when the teams last played back in February of 2018 as the team secured a 66-27 victory. With Union Colony Prep ahead 40-9 at the half, the match was all but over already.
