Gwynn Park is ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Titans. Gwynn Park was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to the Titans. The loss put an end to Gwynn Park's undefeated start to the season.
Meanwhile, Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight defeat. They took a 67-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Douglass. While losing is never fun, Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while the Eagles are ranked 91st).
Despite their loss, Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Isaiah Grey, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Grey hasn't dropped below 15 points for eight straight games. Auston Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Gwynn Park's defeat dropped their record down to 16-1. As for Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
