The Ponderosa Mustangs fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Highlands Ranch Falcons on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 69-66. Ponderosa has struggled against the Falcons recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Ponderosa still got an impressive performance from Noah Wilhelm, who scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Wilhelm is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Carson Keach was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Payton TerEick continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Highlands Ranch, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points TerEick has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of George West III, who scored 15 points along with five assists.
Ponderosa's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Highlands Ranch, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ponderosa will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Heritage will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 33rd). Highlands Ranch will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Mountain Vista will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
