Baseball Recap: Fruitland Drops Season-High Score on Weiser

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fruitland). They were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Weiser Wolverines on Monday. The Grizzlies have beaten the Wolverines the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wolverines has come to flipping the script.

Coye Coffman made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

In other batting news, Jayden Grosdidier was a standout: he went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and five RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Titus Vidlak was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Fruitland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Weiser only managed five hits.

Fruitland's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Weiser, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-7-1 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Fruitland beat the Wolverines by a score of 11-1 on Wednesday.
