After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Eastland, the Rockford Christian Royal Lions were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They came out on top against Timothy Christian by a score of 66-54. Given Rockford Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while Timothy Christian is ranked 419th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Defeat or not, Timothy Christian got some senior leadership from Alex Keizer and Stephen Hribal. Keizer scored 26 points, while Hribal. dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Keizer has scored all season.
Rockford Christian pushed their record up to 12-4 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home. As for Timothy Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
Rockford Christian will square off against Peoria Notre Dame at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Timothy Christian, Timothy Christian and Walther Christian Academy will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
