Newberry Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Newberry Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 53-34 victory over Community Christian Academy. That looming 53-34 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Newberry Academy yet this season.
Meanwhile, Curtis Baptist put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 53-33 margin over Holly Hill Academy. Given Curtis Baptist's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 35th in Georgia, while Holly Hill Academy is ranked 268th in South Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Curtis Baptist to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ty Shine, who scored 20 points. The contest was Shine's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Husband, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Newberry Academy's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Curtis Baptist, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0.
