3A Region III District 20 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Center extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region III District 20 this week by beating Diboll, 38-0. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Roughriders.
The Lumberjacks moved up to 659 from 715 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Diboll climbed the ranks as a result of losing to Center 38-0.
Kevin Goodwin's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dalton Horton threw for 78 and one touchdown and Shaquille Ingram had 57 yards receiving. On the ground Kj Garrett chipped in 109 yards. Tony McCollister helped Center's passing attack out by catching three balls for 21 yards.
Sakedron Horn made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Roughriders bested Shane Adair's team. The sophomore grabbed one interception and recorded one fumble.
Center's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Roughriders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Horton has thrown for 910 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Ingram has 10 catches for 193 yards. Garrett leads the league in rushing with 1169 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Region III District 20 this week will be when Center takes on Carthage. At the moment, the Roughriders are in first, while the Bulldogs are in third.
Jasper took down Cohen 68-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
