Elkhorn is 2-8 against Skutt Catholic since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Elkhorn Antlers' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Skutt Catholic SkyHawks at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Elkhorn was able to grind out a solid victory over Blair, taking the game 66-54. Given Elkhorn's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Blair is ranked 109th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Elkhorn's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Charlie Lamski, who scored 19 points, and Nixon Farmer, who scored 21 points. Farmer is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Colin Comstock was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Skutt Catholic took a 28-point defeat the last time they faced off against Norris, but they managed to turn things around on Tuesday. Skutt Catholic sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-57 win over Norris. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Elkhorn's win bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Skutt Catholic, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.
Elkhorn barely slipped by Skutt Catholic in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 48-47. Does Elkhorn have another victory up their sleeve, or will Skutt Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
