Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 13 to 5 on the offensive boards, a fact the Pendleton Heights Arabians proved on Tuesday. They came out on top against Lapel by a score of 57-44. The win made it back-to-back wins for Pendleton Heights.
Kaycie Warfel continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with six rebounds and six steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Pendleton Heights' points. Adah Hupfer was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Lapel saw an underclassman step up: Laniah Wills dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Poynter, who scored nine points along with five assists and four steals.
Pendleton Heights has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Lapel, their loss ended a 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 16-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pendleton Heights will take on Connersville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Connersville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Friday. As for Lapel, they will be playing at home against Muncie Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Muncie Central has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 30.
