The Silver Creek Raptors scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 81-64 win over Palisade. Given Silver Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Palisade is ranked 151st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Gabe Selby, who scored 20 points along with three steals. Zander Storz was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Palisade lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Layne Ruppelius, who scored 22 points. Ruppelius continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Howard, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds.
Silver Creek pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for Palisade, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Silver Creek will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Summit at 5:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Palisade, they will head out on the road to face off against Coal Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Coal Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
