After having lost a blowout in their previous game against De La Salle, the Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy Swamp Owls were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They managed a 28-23 win over East Jefferson. That's another feather in the cap for Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chaela Alexander led the charge by scoring five points along with six rebounds and four steals. Alexander hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lundyn Allen, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Despite the loss, East Jefferson still got an impressive performance from Leyah Dejoie, who scored 13 points along with three steals and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Alyson Gueho, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-17. As for East Jefferson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy will challenge the Lumberjacks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Jefferson, they and the Cardinals will face off at 5:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Academy of the Sacred Heart will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
