The Sanborn Regional Indians are taking a road trip to challenge the Oyster River Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sanborn Regional is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
Sanborn Regional is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Milford with a sharp 31-4 win on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Phoebe Hood made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 5-for-6 with four runs, five RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Lambert, who fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and four runs while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Boyd, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Sanborn Regional always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Oyster River had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They blew past Campbell 14-2. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by seven runs or more this season.
Kaiya Mercier was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Kate Michaud was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Sanborn Regional pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Oyster River, their record now sits at 17-3-1.
Oyster River's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Sanborn Regional has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Oyster River, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Sanborn Regional keep running through batters, or will the Bobcats buck the trend?
Sanborn Regional suffered a grim 18-6 defeat to Oyster River in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
