The Central Jaguars are taking a road trip to take on the Tate Aggies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Central had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Pensacola Christian Academy last Tuesday. Central put the hurt on Pensacola Christian Academy with a sharp 13-3 victory. The win was nothing new for the Jaguars as they're now sitting on five straight.
Quincy Wilson was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Brock Reeves was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2.
Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Tate never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Pine Forest as Tate made off with a 13-0 victory. The Aggies haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Sheppard Edgar looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Nathan Connors and Taite Davis did most of the damage at the plate: Connors scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Davis scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Lance Brady, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Central pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Tate, their record is now 11-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Tate struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
