Baseball Recap: Browne Wins Going Away Against Tempe

Browne had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Tempe Buffaloes on Friday. The Bruins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

Josmel Cruz Meza made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Browne is undefeated when Cruz Meza posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Luis Beltran was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Miguel Diaz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Browne's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Tempe, they dropped their record down to 3-14 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Browne will host Dobson at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.12 runs per game on average), something the Bruins will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Tempe, they will venture away from home to square off against South Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Buffaloes are facing the Jaguars at the right time seeing as the Jaguars are stuck on a 21-game losing streak.
