Volleyball Recap: Hiland Has No Trouble Against Waynedale

Hiland barely beat Waynedale the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hawks blew past the Golden Bears 3-0 on Saturday. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Golden Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

One reason for the win was Hiland's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-17, 25-12.

Addi Mast paced Hiland's offense, picking up 17 kills. Mast got some help from Brianna Mishler and her 35 assists. Mast was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Waynedale's loss came despite strong showings from Kylie Geiser and Callie Wolfe. Geiser had 24 digs, while Wolfe had nine digs, seven kills, and three blocks. Geiser is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season.

Hiland's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Waynedale, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Hiland and Waynedale will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Hawks are set to face off against their familiar foe Sandy Valley at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Waynedale will take on rival Norwayne at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
