After flying high against the Oregon-Davis Bobcats on Friday, the Marquette Catholic Blazers came back down to earth. Marquette Catholic fell to Elkhart Christian Academy 56-51. Marquette Catholic was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Elkhart Christian Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Several Blazers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Colson Dobre, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The match was Dobre's third in a row with at least ten points. JJ Welch was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Marquette Catholic's defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2. As for Elkhart Christian Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Marquette Catholic's road trip will continue as they head out to face Logansport at 11:00 a.m. on December 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Logansport is ranked 238th, while Marquette Catholic is ranked 242nd). As for Elkhart Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against South Bend Clay at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. South Bend Clay is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
