The Huss Huskies''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 24-9 to Ashbrook. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Huss in their matchups with Ashbrook: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Huss lost, one person who can't be blamed is Javarion Brown. Despite the final result, he rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ashbrook to victory, but perhaps none more so than JJ Gordon, who rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Gordon was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 68 yards. Martino Smith was another key contributor, rushing for 138 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.
Huss' loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Ashbrook, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 4-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Huss will take on Hickory at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Ashbrook, they will head out on the road to face off against Oak Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Oak Grove's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last eight matchups.
