The Fayetteville Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Prairie Grove Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Fayetteville is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Springdale on Thursday as Fayetteville made off with an 18-4 victory. The win was nothing new for Fayetteville as they're now sitting on six straight.
Fayetteville got a massive performance out of Elisabeth Hampton, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Ava Garcia was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4.
Fayetteville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Prairie Grove faced off against Clarksville on Monday. Prairie Grove blew past Clarksville 16-5. That looming 16-5 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.
Angelina Petersen made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Petersen was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs.
In other batting news, Jill Emerson and Ivey Sparkman did most of the damage at the plate: Emerson scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Sparkman scored three runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Zoe Dormer, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Fayetteville's record now sits at 6-0-1. As for Prairie Grove, their record is now 3-1.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fayetteville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .404. However, it's not like Prairie Grove struggles in that department as they've averaged .357. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Fayetteville's way against Prairie Grove in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Fayetteville made off with an 18-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fayetteville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
