The Hillcrest Jaguars can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They blew past Thomasville 91-54 at home. The win was familiar territory for Hillcrest who now have seven in a row.
Leading Hillcrest to victory were Jermonte Stallworth and Robert Simpson. Stallworth scored 22 points, while Simpson scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. Simpson has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Bonner, who scored 12 points.
Hillcrest pushed their record up to 22-4 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.4 points per game. As for Thomasville, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.
Hillcrest the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Monroe County at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Monroe County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Hillcrest is ranked 63rd). As for Thomasville, they will head out on the road to take on Excel at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Excel has nine straight victories, Thomasville has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
