After a string of nine wins, the Newton Falls Tigers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to Crestview. Newton Falls was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carson Howard, who scored 16 points along with eight assists and two steals. It was the first time this season that Howard posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Huff, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Crestview was led to victory by Tyler Savage and justin mckee. Savage scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while mckee dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Best, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Newton Falls' loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-5. As for Crestview, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-10.
Newton Falls will be playing at home against the G-Men at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Garfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. As for Crestview, they will head out on the road to face off against the Golden Flashes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Champion focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
