Chris Barela's Rushing Yards a New Career-High
Starting off the list is La Junta's Chris Barela, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Barela rushed for 195 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards.
La Junta moved to 3-4 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. Barela and La Junta will square off against Florence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Joseph Schoenberger Made His Presence Known in Woodland Park's 42-6 Victory
Woodland Park picked up their seventh consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Marqus Joseph Schoenberger. Joseph Schoenberger was unstoppable, rushing for 94 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 27 yards and a touchdown. He didn't just play on offense: he also made three total tackles and defended a pass.
Woodland Park's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Joseph Schoenberger will have a chance to log another big game when he takes on Manitou Springs on Friday.

Manitou Springs Gets a Boost from Moore in 28-14 Defeat
Manitou Springs had to settle for second on Thursday, but Logan Moore sure wasn't going down easily. Despite the loss, Moore was still balling out as he rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns.
Unfortunately for Lamar, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Moore. Moore rushed for 113 yards on only 15 carries, and also picked up 36 receiving yards and a touchdown the last time he and the Thunder duked it out back in October of 2023.

Trey Reed Dazzles in Woodland Park Victory
Trey Reed was instrumental in extending Woodland Park's winning streak to seven on Friday. Reed was dynamite, rushing for 153 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Those 153 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
For the year, Reed has run in 7 touchdowns while averaging 79.7 rushing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 11.14 rushing yards per game.

Parker Shreeve was instrumental in extending Woodland Park's winning streak to seven on Friday. Shreeve turned in nothing short of a gem, picking up two sacks and making nine total tackles.
For the year, Shreeve has averaged 7.4 total tackles per game and for the season has 5 sacks. It gets even more impressive: after seven games last season, he had four receiving touchdowns. This year he is already up to eight.
