Mount Pleasant has gone 7-2 against Tatnall recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Green Knights will be playing at home against the Hornets at 3:30 p.m. Mount Pleasant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Mount Pleasant turned things around against Delcastle Technical on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars a 24-0 shutout. The Green Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Derek Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Mount Pleasant is 2-1 when Smith posts three or more hits, but 3-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Mount Pleasant got a massive performance out of Chase Wilson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Wilson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Molina, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
Mount Pleasant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Delcastle Technical only managed one hit.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Tatnall, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past St. Andrew's 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hornets have posted since May 2, 2024.
Jacob Glazier made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Glazier was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Glazier wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jonathan Veghte, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Billy Combs also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Tatnall's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 3-10-1. As for Mount Pleasant, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
Tatnall's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mount Pleasant has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. It's a different story for Tatnall, though, as they've only averaged .328. Will they be able to contain Mount Pleasant's hitters?
Mount Pleasant couldn't quite get it done against Tatnall in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 7-3. Can the Green Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
