The Wesclin Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Wesclin: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Carlyle has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
Last Thursday, Wesclin was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-48 to Red Bud.
Even though Carlyle has not done well against Centralia recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Carlyle walked away with a 48-35 win over Centralia. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Carlyle has scored all year.
Carlyle's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lera Schmeink, who scored 16 points. Schmeink also scored 15+ points for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Hoffmann, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Wesclin's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Carlyle, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
Wesclin was taken down by Carlyle 63-30 when the teams last played back in February. Can Wesclin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
