Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morgan). They blew past the South Summit Wildcats 24-11 on Tuesday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.
Morgan got a massive performance out of Kaiya Peterson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. What's more, Peterson posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gwen Rickard, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs.
Morgan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .656. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Morgan has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for South Summit, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morgan will venture away from home to square off against Logan at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Grizzlies will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for South Summit, they will head out to face off against Ogden at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
