Luke Mollohan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Liberty Christian Academy's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 3-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Mollohan was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024.
Mollohan wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dawson Kamppi, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another was Drew Fye, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Liberty Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Delaware Christian only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Northside Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Madison Christian.
Noah Vanderwarker was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Brumfield, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.
Liberty Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Northside Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Liberty Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Northside Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Liberty Christian Academy beat Northside Christian 5-2 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
