The University Buccaneers have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell just short of Hilton Head Prep by a score of 51-48. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points University has scored all season.
Hilton Head Prep was led to victory by Billy Barron and Jason Britschge. Barron scored 14 points, while Britschge dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Barron continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ben Frey, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
University's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Hilton Head Prep, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
University will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cherokee at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Cherokee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 338th, while University is ranked 65th). Hilton Head Prep and King's Ridge Christian will round out the year against one another at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday at. King's Ridge Christian is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
